September and October are rewarding months for rose growers. If all the instructions and suggestions mentioned so far, have been meticulously followed, you can now sit back and enjoy the beauty of  gloriously colorful blooms enlivening the surroundings.
 
Do not relax too much however. If fall is here, how far behind can winter be ? start preparing yourself now for the winter.
 
While the bushes are working overtime to produce magnificent blooms, you, on your part should accelerate the process by watering them deeply as often as you can. Watering daily is just right but do not over-drench it.
 
Till end of September, go on using water-soluble fertilizers. There are a lot of commercially available fertilizers – use them. Easily recognizable through a large number in the middle of their formulation. All your fertilizing activity should cease by the end of October, so that your bushes can start their journey in to the dormant and cold winter months.
 
The spraying activity should not however stop even through October as the impending threat of blackspot and mildew are still at large.
 
You can start your bouquets by cutting the roses from end of October. Without of course damaging the bushes. In case you wish to allow rose hips form, you can just remove the petals from the used roses.
 
Planning for your next year’s garden ideally should start now. You can go online and order some catalogs for your winter reading. You must order your roses early so that the best ones are available off the shelf. Needless to mention, rose growers know very well when to ship your roses, based on the climate zone that you live in.
