Miniature roses are perhaps one of the easiest lowers to grow, whether indoors or outside. Many people look down upon it, because of its minimal or zero fragrance, but miniature roses lend that ideal accent to your home or garden. One of the most hassle-less plants to grow, miniature roses need practically no maintenance. Just water them once a week and they will stay forever. The word “miniature” at times misleads many – as they feel this is a plant for indoors only. But remember these plants grow to nearly four feet in height and needs a lot of sunlight. The micro-mini roses however grow only five inches in height and are equally maintenance-free as the miniature roses. If you wish to keep the miniature roses indoors, despite its potential to grow tall, here are a few tips which will help you to maintain the plant better. Position your rose plant under direct sun light. They bloom and grow on the sunniest spot in your home. If you see that the stems are stretching out, it means it is not getting enough sun light. Remove it from its present location or make sure that the plant gets additional light. Water the plant every week. Use water spray to ward off any spider-mite invasion. To remove dust, spray gently on the leaves as well as the underside of it. The size of the pot is critically important, as too small will retard the growth and too big makes it too reluctant to grow. Miniature roses bloom from spring till winter, if they are placed outdoors. Covering it with mulch protects it from frost. These plants can b planted into the ground or a hanging basket, or in a pot that is 8 to 10 inches deep. Make sure that the pot is not under a big tree, or any thing that obstructs sunlight as these plants love direct sunlight. If you decide to plant the miniature rose plant outdoors, dig a hole which is one foot deep and wide. Remove the rose plant from the pot and gently untangle any loose root with your fingers. Place the plant into the hole. Refill the hole with loose soil making sure that the plant is in place firmly. Water the plant and soil thoroughly. You should do the same exercise when you wish to plant in a pot as well. Remember the first three months are extremely critical for the health of any plant. Never let the soil get dry or parched. Plants need a daily water bath for the first three weeks. After the three weeks are over, ensure that the soil is always moist. Do regular checking and if you feel that it is drying up, sprinkle water immediately. Miniature roses add a splash of color wherever you decide to put it – in your living room, along the edges of a flower bed or any other place which you feel needs a bit of cheering up !
